At AM Healthcare Group, we believe that a happy workplace isn’t just something to celebrate once a year. It is something we build together, every day.
This October marked our second year taking part in Happiness at Work Week, and once again, our teams across the Group came together to share moments of laughter, gratitude, and connection. Last year was our first time joining the initiative, and it sparked something special, a reminder of how much joy can be found in the small, everyday moments. This year, that spirit only grew stronger.
Across our UK and international sites, colleagues found creative ways to celebrate, reflect, and connect. From laughing yoga sessions in Leicester to scavenger hunts, bake-offs and emoji boards in our Opcare centres, to team lunches, games, “happy awards” across Ortho Europe. Happiness at work looks different in each team, but always comes back to the same thing: people taking care of people.
At our UK Abingdon head office, the “AM Pool Masters” tournament sparked friendly competition (and plenty of laughter), while Central Services joined forces for a week-long scavenger hunt that brought colour, creativity and connection into the workplace. Team ProActive enjoyed walks, quizzes, and a “bring your pet to work” day, spreading smiles far and wide – while our manufacturing teams continued the tradition of recognising colleagues who go above and beyond through the much-loved Happy Awards (an award specifically designed for happiness at work week for to reward those employees who are bringing lots of smiles in our work environment)
Our colleagues at OIM in the Netherlands added something new this year – a HeartMath session, exploring how to feel good and connect with our emotions in a more mindful way. In Haren, Trudie the pup joined in, reminding everyone that happiness sometimes has four paws and a wagging tail.
The celebrations have been full of laughter and shared experiences, but what stood out most were the small gestures: a cup of coffee shared, a kind word, a handwritten note of thanks.
As one of our team members put it simply:
“Happiness at work means feeling valued, connected, and proud of what we do together.”
That sentiment captures it perfectly. Happiness at work isn’t about perfection or big events; it’s about belonging about knowing that what you do matters, and that you matter to the people you work with. We’re proud to celebrate that across every corner of our Group from our clinics and offices to our workshops and international teams. Here’s to another year of building happier, more connected workplaces, together.
