HR People & Culture CHO

Marta Branquinho Garcia

Economist, Advanced Executive Management, Postgraduated Marketing Management and HR, Chief Happiness Officer, Science of Well-Being, Facilitator in Gross National Happiness, Speaker, HR Director&Training

Although I’m graduated in Economics, soon I’ve discovered that I was good with people, leadership, and relations. For the most part of my career, i've been an HR and Training Director, working with talent and development. For more than 6 years I've been a brand manager of a Post Graduation Academy in a big company. The last 4 years I was an HR Director of an industrial Group and at the same time, I’ve been dedicated to co-write a book, articles, and to study happiness. I believe we have to train the human abilities of leadership in order to engage our workforce and at the same time achieve more results. I think leadership and happiness are the 2 faces of the same coin. I believe in well-being but the trigger has to be the ROI and the improvement of KPIs, among the organizations. I truly believe in Strategic Management and I’m certain that happiness and well being have to be in the center of the culture and must be one of the main strategic objectives to have a sustainable outcome. The subject that I would like to talk about is Positive Leadership and how to engage a workforce in order to retain the talent that we are going to need to face this major Covid crisis.

Chief Happiness Officer

Griet Deca

My mission is to make sure that people return home after work with a smile on their face.

For almost 17 years, Griet guided jobseekers on their path to employment via training and coaching. In her classroom, the job-seeker lacking self-confidence, grew into a rock-solid candidate who truly believed in his/her own abilities. Griet was “the happy guide on the side”.
What intrigued her most though, was how the learning results achieved by trainees in the classroom were often not expressed in the workplace. By talking to her trainees, Griet quickly discovered that stress was the main culprit. She wanted to know more about this phenomenon, which apparently succeeded in undoing all her work in the blink of an eye.
In 2015, she decided to study the mechanism of stress. She obtained the certificate of Stress and Burn-out coach. In 2018 she went to the Netherlands and added the certificate as Happiness at Work Expert. As co-founder of the company Tryangle, Griet and her colleagues “Try a different angle” on well-being and happiness at work. You can book her for a smile guaranteed talk on stress and burn-out, physical and mental well-being, resilience, communication and happiness at work.

Director of Brain Fit

Jenny Brockis

Medical doctor, lifestyle medicine physician specialising in workplace brain fitness, mental wellbeing & psychological safety creating thriving teams and leaders

As a kid, my favourite tale was Rudyard Kipling’s ‘How The Elephant Got His Trunk’. Like the elephant I was insatiably curious about the world. It also got me into a bit of trouble, like the time I set fire to the kitchen during a chemistry experiment.

My curiosity led me to a career in medicine; first as Principal of a group medical practice and now as a board-certified lifestyle medicine physician and independent workplace-based consultant.

I love researching the science and translating it into useful strategies and have just published my fourth book Thriving Mind: How to Cultivate a Good Life (Wiley)

What gets me out of bed in the morning is the opportunity to inspire people to be Happy Thriving Humans through speaking on stage, facilitating workshops and delivering my Thriving By Design Program that incorporates brain health, mental wellbeing and psychological safety.

Getting the best out of people doesn't come from wringing them out like a wet towel, it's about understanding what really motivates us to work hard, stay curious to learn more, come up with new ideas, and of course to know how to get along with people, especially those we don't consider like ourselves.

Chief Happiness Officer and owner of 2Happiness

Hedinn (Héðinn) Sveinbjörnsson

One does not get appointed as a nation’s Chief Happiness Officer. It’s a choice - about how I want to serve my country and community, and about addressing something critical that’s missing in society. My commitment is to bring happiness to the work place!

Listening and gratitude are those things that are missing, especially in the workplace. Add those two things, and positivity and productivity take off. Leave them out, and work becomes routine, performance mediocre.

A Chief Happiness Officer is foremost an educator, and when I completed the international study program organized by Woohoo, a global workplace leadership community, I noticed the thread that ran through my MBA studies here in Iceland and my undergraduate education in Denmark, where I focused on social education.

The goal - and the focus I bring to each of my clients - is the pursuit of "a world where happiness at work is the rule rather than the exception." This goal is pursued on the back of a proven methodology "to enable anyone and everyone to be champions of happiness at work."

There’s also the opportunity to influence the broader conversation about happiness in society, which, in a small way, I approach through my podcast.
My commitment to bringing happiness to the work place - based on measurable improvements in listening and tangible applications of gratitude, is built on a strong foundation at home. I am indeed grateful for my wife and my twins (a boy and a girl) and they test and train me in listening all the time.
